Default User Name?

Hello all, I hope you can help....

I have a home network including Win98, Win2K machines and a Linux server
running Samba.

My wife's PC runs Windows 98. She is the only user, so when I set up the
computer for her, I did not specify a user name and password. Now, when
trying to access a shared disk on Windows 2000 or Samba from her machine, a
dialog box pops up asking for a password. Not a user name, but JUST a
password.

Since we did not set up a user name on this machine at install time, what is
it using as a default? If I knew that, I could define that default user
name on the other systems and allow the disk sharing dialog to complete.

Thanks.

- Earl

Isn't there a way to get Samba to log that information?

There is no "default" user name on your Win98 PC. You
entered it when you first started Windows 98. Click Start
and have a look at the item "Log off". It shows your current
user name.
