Sirs,
I have connected some of the Windows 2000 Professional
mechines in a workgroup. While accessing some mechines I
am getting an error that "The Server is not Configured for
Transactions". While investigating I understand that the
Deaults shares(C$, IPC$ etc) all are deleted. Noramally
nobody can't do that, so I suspects some virus there. So
what virus may be affected my mechine and how can I remove
this virus? Also pls give advice me to how to re-
establish my networking and shares

Regards
Sabu

Someone may have turned off the automatic creation of the administrative
shares by using either Registry Editor or Policy.

HOW TO: Remove Administrative Shares in Windows 2000 or Windows NT 4.0:
http://support.microsoft.com/default...b;EN-US;318751

Here's an older, NT 4.0 focused article:
The Knowledge Base article referenced below focuses on domain controllers,
but the system policy solution works on all machines, including member
servers and workstations. Simply enable the "Create hidden drive shares"
option (which are C$ and ADMIN$) under Default Computer in either a
domain-wide system policy, or create a separate policy for local computer.
A common cause of this problem is that the System Policy Editor is used on a
machine for the first time and the hidden drive Shares are not explicitly
turned on.

Alternatively, the registry of the effected computer can be directly edited
to resolve the problem. If the hidden drive shares on a server always
disappear ensure the following key (add key if necessary) is set to 1:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Servic es\LanmanServer\Parameters
\AutoShareServer

If the hidden drive shares on a workstation always disappear ensure the
following key (add key if necessary) is set to 1:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Servic es\LanmanServer\Parameters
\AutoShareWks
