Default Gateway cannot be configured

As usual, windows is not performing as it should. I have
entered a gateway of 65.88.39.6 in the proper location, but
when I do an IPCONFIG, it pulls up the default gateway of
192.168.1.1 Is there a way to make W98 behave as it
should? MS does not seem to believe this is a problem, but
I have 3 computers on my network that prove them wrong. I
would go ahead and upgrade them to Win 2000, but I don't
have the hour plus that it takes to run the stupid MS
updates. Hmmmmmm maybe I should use a real operating
system, like Unix......
Please respond via e-mail ((E-Mail Removed)) if you have
any suggestions.
Thank you
