I need to decommisison a server in a production enviroment but I need to know
what traffic it is receiving so that I can determine the affects of irs
removal.

I suspect I can utilize netmon for this function. Which switches should I
use if this si the case?

thanks in advance

Hmmm. That isn't where I'd start.
What does this server do?
Is it a DC?
Is it a DNS server?
Etc. etc. etc.

There is always the simple life,....

Unplug the network cable,...see what quits.

Hello JohnSp,

Please post the roles/functions that the server provides, is it DC, Exchange
or whatever is installed? Without some more info it is not that easy.

Or do it the hard way like Philipp wrote, unplug the network cable and wait
what happens..... or not.:-)

Best regards
