Does anyone know of a network adapter card the is PCI-X compatible that
is supported by Debian GNU/Linux 30r4 i386

I am installing Debian GNU/Linux 30r4 i386 on an IBM eServer xSeries
335 Type 8676 PC. It comes with an onboard Broadcom netXtreme Gigabit
ethernet controller. Does anyone know of a network driver that can be
used for this controller.

My other option is to disable the onboard network controller and plug a
network adapter card into one of the machines PCI-X slots.

I think Linux kernel has support for broadcom chipsets.

The option is CONFIG_TIGON3=Y when re-compiling a 2.6 kernel.

I'm used to build a kernel myself for such high-end systems. There can be
a significant performance improvement.

If you are afraid of building your own kernel, there should be a tigon3
module laying down around your system that you can activate.
