I enabled internet sharing in my office network with seven computers and
then on in all computers except in main computer, I am getting Blue Screen
with white text suggesting driver updates or bios check. How to stop this
frequent appearance of Blue Screen ?

No way to get into Windows? You might have to use the Recovery Console and
turn off ICS Service. Or try Last Known Good.

Hope this helps,

My bet is that the extra NIC's drivers you put in to allow ICS is causing
it. But this is just a GUESS. Why? You'll need to be much more specific for
us to help out, such as what type of NICs are being used, is it a PPP (ADSL
or dialup) connection and if so, is it possibly using the WinPOET software
(which is very flaky), is it a cable connection, is it a USB NIC (which
works like crap with Win2004), and also, what operating system are you
talking about, and is it a domain controller, etc?

Now no blue screen coming and system is ok. But what is ICS service and how
to stop it ? Is it advisable to keep ics off permanently to avoid
reappearance of blue screen in future ?
Thanks.

Tahnks. The OS is W.XP. It is a broadband connection provided by local
telephone authority and is simly the connection is shared without any third
party software. Now the blue screen is not coming but your furthere advice
may b very helpful in case of recurrence.

I'm still wondering what type of NICs or interfaces (manufacturer and model
please). Broadband connection is just a DSL or cable line coming in. Since
it's your local telephone authority, may I assume it's an ADSL connection?

If you are sharing the connection (whatever type it is), and the OS is XP,
you are using ICS (Internet Connection Sharing).

My original thoughts is one of the interfaces is causing the problem. If
using DSL, how is it connected to your network or this machine? Does the
line go directly into an RJ45 connection in the back of the machine, or is
it going to a Westel modem, then from that unit a USB wire is going to your
machine, or is there an extra physical NIC in your machine that it's plugged
into? If so, what type of NIC (manufacturer and model please). I've seen USB
connections bluescreen because of driver problems.

Also what would be helpful is the driver name that shows up at the bottom
left of the bluescreen. The driver name ends in a ".sys", such as
storport.sys (that's just an example).

Also would be helpful is you can get the numbers that show up at the very
top of the bluescreen too. It's a set of five 8 digit numbers that look like
0x0000002d, etc, (that's just an example).

Right below those numbers is an error message, such as
DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL. If you can get that error message, that would
be helpful.

Here's a picture of an example bluescreen to get an idea what to look for
when it happens again. Look at where the info is exactly on the screen that
we need so next time you see it, you'll be familiar with what info to grab.

What errors show up in the Event logs, specifically the System log? If any,
post the Event ID# and source.

I hope that helps.
