Could someone please advise me on which version of dd-wrt I should use.
I've tried looking it up but it's kind of confusing.

Router is a Linksys WRT54G v6, serial # begins with CDFD, stock firmware.
Thanks for any help.

NO! The V6 can only run the **Micro** version.

See:

http://www.dd-wrt.com/wiki/index.php...er_Information

If this is a new router, the DD-WRT wiki suggests getting rid of it and
getting a more compatible model, if you really want to run DD-WRT. I
agree.

Thanks for the replies. I didn't realize that the V6 was "neutered". I
don't want to brick the router as it is a gift, so I'll stay with the stock
firmware. Or should I upgrade the firmware from Linksys? I haven't had a
problem yet with stock firmware. Appreciate the help.

"If it ain't broke, don't fix it".

(Though if there's a newer version of the Linksys stock firmware, it
shouldn't hurt to upgrade to that.)
