David Express Net Router

Anyone any dealings with this old router, model no 6310-TRT?

I have been using it for the last few months with a 2 PC set up. Now the
PC's can't see each other at all. I have tried running the network wizard on
both but with no joy.

The router has a string of lights which I'm sure but can't be positive used
to light up depending on activity on that port. Now the only lights to light
are PWR (constant) and ALM (flashing). I take it that is Power and Alarm
which would obviously be reporting a problem?

If I unplug the connector at the router, winxp tells me a cable has been
unplugged. Would this happen even if the router is faulty.

Is there anyway I can test this router before tossing it?

Is there any kind of diagnostic/admin function of the function, webbased or
serial terminal? Give this a look if you can.

There is no diagnostic function as far as I can see. However I switched it
off for about 24 hours and when I switched it back on the thing started
working properly again! It lives in a cupboard where all my cables come
together so I don't switch it off at night. I'll try doing that every night
and see if it lives for a bit longer!

That's my ignorance showing. It's actually a hub. I just thought a router
was another name for a hub!! Doh

Heh fair enough, there are big differences though

Hubs tend to have three states: ON, OFF, and BROKEN...

So unless the problem is obvious then its time to shell out a tenner or so
for a post-chrimbo treat from ebuyer.co.uk
