When i add a wireless network on my computers

- i run network wizard
- Then i select Other in the Select the statement that best describes this computer
- Then let me choose the connections to my network
- Then computer descrption, computer name and workgroup name

then in the wireless network

- i enter a new name of a network "adhoc"
- then i check the This is a computer to computer (ad hoc) network box
- I leave Data encryption (WEP enabled) box unchecked
- Then in TCP/IP properties i assign to my 2 computers an IP address and
a subnet mask example
computer 1 192.168.100.1
255.255.255.0

computer 2 192.128.100.2
255.255.255.0

- Then i connect to that adhoc wireless network and i see the shared files
of all my computers.

BUT

when i configure a new network...

example adhoc2
- I check the box in Data encryption (WEP enabled)
and the rest leave the same configuration and i don't "see"
all the shared files and the computers that are sharing resources.

What could be the problem?
do i need to configure my network with Data encryption enabled or disabled?
Why in the creation of an access point wireless network configuration i need
to check the Data encryption (Wep enabled) box?

Thanks for the help

Did you put an actual WEP key into the network configuration widget?

It doesn't seem like you've put an actual password in for the WEP. When you
enable WEP, it will give you a little entry form to type a password in and
then to confirm that password.

You have to put the exact same password in for both computers in your
network, if you want them to see each other. The passwords also have to be a
specific length, either 40-bit (5 characters long) or 104-bit (13 characters
long).
