The value of logs for home routers is a function of what kind of
firewall, SPI, etc., is supplied. Since most have few or none of these
features (save for NAT), the logs tend to be somewhere near to useless
anyway.
The 624 has the usual baseline "firewall" suspects: NAT, MAC filtering,
IP filtering, URL filtering, Domain blocking, Scheduling, WEP. Of
these, only NAT is operative out of the box without user intervention.
There's not much value in logging in this case, IMO. No SPI, no DOS
hardening, so there is no need to log anything happening that might be
classified as "serious", since there are no functions to monitor
"serious" attack.
So, with the 624, logging is immaterial. As an aside, is the 624 the
wireless router with all of the firmware issues? If so, you might
update the firmware before getting too far into the setup.
