Very easy, throw the book in the bin as the instructions are rubbish. All
you need to do is go into the setup screen
http://192.168.1.1 then make
sure you change the default password or you will get all your neighbours
using your connection for which you are responsible.
Everything is explained on the manual on the CD.
Once in, and after changing the password, click on SETUP. Then you will see
all the settings you require. Click on PSK HEX and put a load of random
letters in! Say ABBBAAEEEBADDDEAABAAA for example, and keep a note. Go to
the TOOLS and SYSTEM COMMANDS and click on SAVE ALL.
Then restart the wireless router once you log out.
When the computer detects the network and tries to connect it will flash a
box up asking for the network key - enter the one you told the router.
That's all there is to it. The router and box will do the rest.
At a later date you can also lock the system so it only allows your MAC
addresses, turn the power down to keep the signal from going miles, also
hide the SSID.
At least this way your neighbours will not be freeloading or getting you
done!
