Hi,

Within the log section of my DWL2000+ AP, I have an option to send a copy of
the log to an IP address. Can anyone tell me how this works and how I
access the file on the machine it is sent to? I'm fairly up on much of the
rest of the configuration within this unit, but this bit has thrown me
totally, and I don't know what the option is for exactly (and the help file
is not much use to me either).

Does anyone have any idea what this option is for and how it works? I was
hoping to be able to get the unit to email me the log same as my Netgear
modem/router does, but I don't think the D-Link will do that. So what and
why does it need an IP address for a PC on the network that is to receive
the log and how do I see the log when it has been sent? Or Am I talking
complete rubbish? (Very Likely)... : - ))

Thanks everyone.

Steve

Sounds like my Linksys. If you have logging enabled then it will
broadcast log information to the IP address specified. On my PC
(specified IP) I have a "syslog" program which allows you to view the
information.
Try this Kiwi Syslog Daemon 7.1.4
http://www.kiwisyslog.com/products.htm#sysloggen

ITYF that the IP address is for a syslog server rather than a mail
server.

Hi Thanks for the reply. Yes, that program works really well, except I
would like the software to send me an email whenever it gets a message of
any type. I have tried all weekend to find the option for Kiwi Syslog
Daemon to do this, but cannot find such an option. Do you know of any other
software that might work with email. I basically would like the software to
email me each message it sends.

Thanks Steve

You can apparently do that by defining a rule and running a script
(there's plenty about it in the manual) but it's only functional in
the paid-for version.
