Somebody must know, but I can't find out from the D-Link site:

If I upgrade the firmware does the configuration remain the same? Or does
it revert to the factory defaults?

My current firmware is revision 2.3 and the website shows the most current
as 257. Is there a list of the improvements? Should I apply the upgrade?

Thanks

The 2 900+ units I have, have retained their configurations after updating
and downgrading the firmware... I've had some reboot issues with 2.57 under
loading. Main difference in 2.57 is that it changes the 100% power output
from 19db to 17db (some have stated its a typo) and it adds 4X compatibility
mode... Apparently activating 4X and then downgrading the firmware, leaves
it active... Or at least it did in my tests...

Sure, don't know how you could miss it!

(I only knew because at the weekend my WAP11 v1 died and I just happened
to have a new DWL900+ lying around and I updated the firmware before I
put it into place.)

I went to 2.56 but one oddity is that I only have channels 1 and 13
available, nothing in between.

That's not an operational problem for me but I'd like to know if I'm
alone here!

David.

This link shows the following changes for revsion 2.57 :

¤ Fixed antenna side
¤ Fixed repeater bugs
¤ Auto fall back
¤ Fixed ap client mode
¤ For Windows, Linux, and Mac.
¤ Upgrade Instructions

I am curious as to " Fixed antenna side" when the unit I have very clearly
has only one antenna. Further, your link is intended for the USA market.
Following the guidance to find the UK site leads to what I presume is a UK
version 2.57 but no explanation of the bug fixes or improvements. Also,
there is a version 3.02 for version C1. How do I identify whether I have
version C1 ??

Nope because then surely if I'm on the US site, I'd get channels 1 to
11.

I'm in the UK, I should get 1 to 14.

Unless the US firmware is very confused?

David.

No, it has two antennas. The other is inside the case.

Well, I figure you can assume the bug fixes are the same but with a
different channel set to include 13 and 14. Other than that, I'd be
very surprised if they were different.

No idea!

The help with my 900AP+ explains the three antenna options in the config
as "Left, Right, and Diversity". From the help:

"Antenna Selection
The antennas on DWL-900AP+ can be selected for different usages. For
most indoor usage, the default Diversity Antenna setting is recommended.
If you want to replace one of the antennas with an outdoor external
antenna, choose Left Antenna or Right Antenna to maximize the transmit
power to the specific side. Note: Right Antenna is External antenna of
DWL-900AP+.

Current Firmware Version: 3.02
Firmware Date: Wed, 23 Apr 2003"
