Hi

I am trying to get the D-Link DWL 650+ card working with Dell Inspiron
5100 laptop. I am currently using Redhat 9.0 and 2.6.4 kernel

I have made the following changes
1) I downloaded the acx100 driver for the card and have build it in
the kernel. I have also copied the required firmware (*.BIN) as well
as updated the modules.conf by adding the following two lines

alias wlan0 acx_pci
options acx_pci firmware_dir="THE FIRMWARE DIR PATH"

2) I have also added a new interface in the
/etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/ as ifcfg-wlan0 and made the
appropriate changes to /etc/wlan/wlan.conf

Inspite making all these changes , the wireless card does not get
recognized during boot (i.e the lights on it do not blink). Also when
I run the "start_net" script provided by the acx driver I get an error
saying that the wlan0 is not present.

I do not understand how do I bring the wlan0 up. Please somebody
help!!!!

Huh? The name of the module is acx100_pci - at least on my 2.6.4.

What happens when you do:
lsmod | grep acx
insmod acx100_pci firmware_dir="FIRMWAREDIRPATH"

?

Yeah works now (The LEDs on the wireless card have started blinking,
also iwconfig gives some sane output) Thanx alot.

Also if possible do let me know which script files other than
"start_net" do I have to change to get the wireless working.

From SuSE 9.1 the card worked straight out of the box as soon as
I copied in the firmware, without compiling anything. Before that
I was compiling the driver myself, but can't remember editing
anything at all, including the start_net script.
