Is there anyone using a D-Link DSL-G624T router? If so can you let me know
if you get either Tracert or winMTR through the router ? (using ethernet or
wireless) I am finding I am getting a reply and what amounts to a ping but
with no hop details of the connections in-between my router and destination.
My old Safecom router allowed the hops to be displayed so I assume it must
be down to something within the D-Link unit and not my PC.

Disable "ICMP Redirection checking" in the routers firewall settings.

Thanks Nigel but even with all firewall settings turned off on the router
and rebooted there is no change. The only thing I notice in the router log
is a long list of entries once I start WinMTR. Nov 29 22:37:22> Frag of
proto 1. Nov 29 22:37:23> Frag of proto 1. Nov 29 22:37:23> Frag of
proto 1.
I have no idea if it is significant or what it means but stopping WinMTR and
clearing the log, no more entries exist until I run a trace again.

Gio :-(

I no longer use a D-Link but remember having to click on "save" at a different
page in the routers GUI to make some changes stick. This may only have been
for wireless settings, can't remember now, but it's worth checking that "ICMP
Redirection checking" is actually disabled.
IIRC I had everything enabled in the firewall except the above and had no
problems with ping / tracroute on the D-Link.

Thanks Nigel, I double checked the settings after powering off the Router
then switching it on again. The adjusted ICMP redirection was still
disabled so I am beginning to wonder it the router has a fault ?

Gio.

You need to save the settings to flash memory when rebooting. If you
want to keep them.
