Hi
I've been noticing a slowdown accessing a couple of my wired machines
over the last few months and I'd thought there was a hardware issue with
one of them: after managing to transfer with a crossover cable at full
pelt I began to suspect the switch itself.
Now the D-Link G604T, like many similar units, has a DSL modem, wifi AP
and 4-port 10/100 switch built-in.
To check it I just put in an 8-port 10/100 switch with all the wired
machines connected to it and a single connection into the router and -
as if by magic - network speed rocketed. Even traffic across the
built-in bridge (ie between the wired and wireless) is faster.
Is this a known issue with the D-Link boxes? Or do you think the box is
just faulty? Or am I missing something obvious?
Cheers
Geoff
