D-link DKL-900AP+wireless AP - lost MAC address

I had this working in AP mode then changed and saved the config to change
the SSID broadcast setting and can no longer connect on the wireless side.
No amount of resetting and reloading settings to previous values seems to
change this.

The device status pages shows MAC address 00-00-00-00-00-00 for the Wireless
side. Previously (when working) it showed a MAC address here, and one that
was not the same as the Ethernet side MAC address.

Has anyone else seen this problem or know a solution to it?

You can waste hours with this thing...

Thanks,
Bill

Have you tried the "hard" reset?

"To hard-reset the D-Link AirPlus DWL-900AP+ to Factory Default
please do the following:
• Locate the Reset button on the back of the DWL-900AP+
• Use a paper clip to press the Reset button.
• Hold for about 5 seconds and then release
• After the DWL-900AP+ reboots (this may take a few minutes)
it will be reset to the factory Default settings."

"When your Windows XP Service Pack 1 (SP1)-based Wireless Zero
Configuration (WZC) client computer is in the proximity of two wireless
access points, and one of the access points is broadcasting its Service
Set Identifier (SSID) but the other is not, your computer always
connects to the access point that is broadcasting its SSID. This occurs
regardless of the preference order of the networks that are configured
on the Preferred Networks list."

OK thanks for that.

That explains why when I turned SSID broadcast off the clients kept
disconnecting - because there is another AP around with SSID broadcast on
and XP keeps trying to switch.Looks like I can forget trying to disable SSID
broadcast.

So what has me stumped is that now I have turned SSID broadcast back on
again, the clients cannot see my AP and the AP device status page
permanently shows this 00-00-00-00-00-00 MAC address for the wireless side.
I think it is dead!

If you log into the 900+AP through Ethernet, go to the STATUS / DEVICE INFO
page:

http://its_ip_address/st_devic.html

You should see the configured mac addresses for the ethernet and wireless
ports...

I see no way of clearing the mac addresses, perhaps download a firmware
update and install it...
