I have a D-Link DI-624 (Rev. C2) router w/ a DWL-G650 wireless card (Rev.
B3). I've enabled Super-G mode (dynamic turbo) on the router and on the
wireless card, with WPA-PSK authentication. After I installed the D-Link
configuration utility on my laptop, the card never successfully connects
upon Windows startup unless I do the following things:

1) Exit the D-Link wireless configuration utility
2) Restart the configuration utility.

After awhile the card looses connection with the router, even if the laptop
is in the same room as the router! The only way to reestablish the
connection is to do the previous two steps. I've tried
uninstalling/reinstalling the utility numerous times, but to no avail. I've
also tried enabling/disabling the Windows XP Wireless Zero Configuration
service.

D-Link says that I must have a defective card, but I've seen other people
have the same problems. It's becoming painfully obvious that D-Link Tech.
support doesn't even know their own products that well.

Anyone else have a scenario like this one? I'd be interested to hear your
thoughts. Thanks.

Linksys WUSBG
A Ornioco built into my laptop
and a DLINK 802.11g usb adapter.

I am running a 54g dlink 624 router and 2 pcmcia cards. Have 4 machines
connected, two by wire and 2 by wireless.
It all runs well together. I only use wep encryption.

You could try disabling the wpapsk encryption to see if that helps. Come to
think of it you probably already tried that. Another thing that can cause
problems is being around heavy industrial sites. You could be getting
interference from another router around you. Like dlink tech said the card
could be bad, so take it back and try another. You know the router could be
bad.

This is a known problem there is allot more on this at dslreports.com.
http://www.dslreports.com/forum/dlink I set it up too and did the exact same
thing. It's a software problem and I think only new firmware will fix this.

I just got 4 more Dlink AP's to expand my network and I was looking forward
to using the WPA-PSK. I went back to WEP for now. The Dlink hardware has
worked great so far, so I will continue to buy there stuff.

Thanks
RA

Hi,

Thanks for your comments. I actually didn't try downgrading to WEP from
WPA-PSK - I was holding out for that miracle solution. Anyway, using WEP
seems to have solved the problem for the moment, so I gather that this
software issue will be fixed with the next driver release? Now I'm just
wondering if the issue was with the DI-624 or the DWL-G650...
