There were at least two different chipsets used.
Revision A apparently used a Marvel chipset.. fairly old units.
Revision B was an export version (don't know the chipset)
Revision C used an Atheros chipset, likely rev.D and rev.E as well.
D-link suggests that you try changing SSID to ANY on all devices if you
cannot get them to connect.
