Hey,
The wireless portion of my D-Link 713p router wasn't working, but the
wireline portion was. So, following D-Links Knowledge base and Faq,
I tried to do a firmware upgrade via a Cat-5 cable connection. Now,
the router is completely locked up and can not be flashed again. The
M1 and M2 lights just go on solid instead of M2 solid/M1 blinking.
D-Link told me to shove it, despite the fact that I trashed the router
using their software to upgrade it, following their recommendations.
Real sweethearts.
Methinks the dlink software might have corrupted the boot record on
the EEPROM. Does anyone else know how to recover a 713p in this
state? Otherwise it is going in the trash bin.
Oh, and after it was toasted, I opened it up out of curiosity. This
POS has a PCMIA wireless card inside it that had worked loose from the
mounting. Great. So the no wireless connectivity was because of a
physical mounting design defect. You could see where they had tried
to band-aid it by putting clear caulk across the juncture between card
and mount. Tragically cheap.
Any help appreciated to resurrect this thing. - Rob Perkins
