D-Link 300T modem - junk?

The D-Link 300T modem is a bizzare piece of kit. We just bought two of
them.

This is the UK version, which doesn't contain the 1-port NAT function
which overseas versions of the 300T reportedly have.

One of the config options is a DHCP server. This can also be disabled,
and it appears natural to do so because one would normally get an IP
served by the ISP.

However if you disable the modem's DHCP server, it will no longer work
with a PC for config purposes - unless the PC's ethernet LAN port is
set up with a static IP, not the "obtain IP automatically" option.

However, if when configuring the 300T, you first enter the ISP's login
and password, click on Connect, then it can pass on the ISP's
dynamically allocated IP to your PC, and then you can change the PC
back to the "obtain IP automatically" normal ethernet setting.

The earlier 300G version is a lot better - despite having the bizzare
problem with refusing to work with a MAC address different from what
was originally configured from.

Eventually, the 300T fails to accept a change of its admin address
from 192.168.1.1 to 192.168.0.1 and locks up. I am sending these two
pieces of junk back and will be looking for the old 300G.

We have a 300G working perfectly and wish to set up a 2nd identical
system.

D-link is junk period. IMHO
