I have a local print server using CUPS running Redhat 7.2. There are
other windows machines on the network that use SAMBA to print. I'm
trying to setup another linux machine, running Redhat 9, so I can
print to a laser printer connected to the parallel port on the print
server.
In the GNOME print manager, should I be installing the printer as IPP
(Networked CUPS? What should I put in for server? The internal IP of
the print server is 192.168.1.40. What should I put in for the path?
It is defaulted to /printers/queue1.
The printer is an HP Laserjet 6MP.
It says: About to create the following queue:
ipp://192.168.1.40:631/printers/queue1
Printer: HP Laserjet 6MP
The error I get in the print manager is: Unable to get printer status
(client-error-not-found). I've read through the documentation
extensively. I'm new to linux.
Any ideas on what I should try?
