Cross connection cable?

I have a WAP-G hooked into a Etherfast Router. The network card I have can
pick up the WAP (this is all linksys stuff btw) but it says it can't connect
to the internet. Someone told me that a cross link cable might fix the
problem because the WAP and the ethernet router might be pointing in the
same direction. Could this be the case??

When you plug the cable from the WAP into the router, does the green light
by the router port illuminate? If not, use the router Uplink port and press
the Uplink button (simulates a crossover cable) until the green LED lights
up indicating a proper connection.
