critical updates

Each time I try to install critical updates, they fail to
install, I have tried all the options in help with no
luck. How can I get these updates fully installed?

Wrong group. Try the Microsoft Windows General Group for your operating
system. You can go directly to the MS server:
msnews.microsoft.com. Use Outlook Express rather than the web interface
for best results.

Critical updates for what?
MSBBN software or other software?
