I have the router on the ground level and the receiver in the
basement. When I was running ME, I had a solid green signal strength
light. Then I upgraded the receiving computer's OS to XP Pro.
Suddenly, my signal strength is Low and I can't receive anything.
What happened? Can I change the channel in XP?

Foound out the hard way that some old netgear 802.11b stuff (MR314 and
MA401?) need a firmware upgrade to work well with XP.

the most important bit is the MR314.

we were getting slow operation, intermittant connection and PCs dropping
wireless after 40 minutes with the old firmware - YMMV

Thanks. I never thought of upgrading the router's firmware. So I did
it. It really didn't help, though.
