Could not browse for a computer

I have a small network with Win98 and WinXP machines joined to a single
workgroup. There is a linux machine which serves as dhcp, dns, and samba
file-server. I have added Win2003 machine to this network (going to switch
to AD in a future). The problem is all computers can see each other in
Network Places except the new Win2003 machine. I can open it directly going
to \\machinename but cannot browse for it in network places. What is the
problem?

The first thing to check is that Netbios over TCP/IP is enabled on the
server's NIC. By default it is set to use the setting supplied by DHCP.

You can troubleshoot the browser service using browstat, which is part
of the support tools available from the server CD.
