I think it's only possible when you deny reading these files. No any other
cases.

Alex.

If your permissions are setup correctly, then you'll want to look at
your Trusted Sites zone. Add the server by typing:
\\servername
and then change this setting within the trusted site zone to enabled:

Drag and drop or copy and paste files

I had this problem recently and this was the fix for it.

Matt

Yes, but you need Windows 2003 R2 (release 2) and install File Manager.

Hello (E-Mail Removed),

But they are able to save Word, Excel etc.? How do you accomplish this?

Best regards

My response was only if the share permissions are setup properly. If
the permissions aren't setup properly, then my workaround WILL NOT fix
the problem. However, if the permissions are solid and you have
access to the folder, the IE Options setting WILL still block users.
As far as docs and normal files goes, that's still has to do with
permissions.

Hello (E-Mail Removed),

Sorry, but that is not clear. If you block drag and drop or copy and paste,
this will prevent ANY file. I never saw folder permissions spearated by file
endings like .exe or .doc. With FSRM from 2003 R2 you can control this,
do you mean this?

Best regards

No that's not what I mean. Sorry for the confusion, I put the wrong
option in my previous posts. What I'm saying is that if the
permissions on say \\server\test was setup to give you full control.
So you can copy, paste, modify, and delete. You can still be blocked
from running programs if the clients pc has some funky settings in
Internet Explorer. The setting is particular is:

Launching Applications and Unsafe Files

If that's set to disabled, then you aren't going to be able to
use .exe, .msi, and other applications. I just created a test folder
and gave myself full control on the security tab and also the share
tab. Then I added my server name to the trusted sites zone, as
described above. Changed this setting and I'm blocked from running
this application. If I change it back, I'm in the game.

Regards,
Matt
