Controlling bandwidth per port on a gateway/router

I have a teenager that is sucking all the bandwidth from the rest of my
network. I am currently on DSL and have a 4 computer network and a x-box 360
connected. I have an Actiontec Router/gateway with 4 ports. I connected an
old Kingston 8 port switch to the fourth port , the Kingston switch is only
10baseT. The Teenager is still pulling 60% of my bandwidth. I was wondering
if anyone knows of a program than can limit the bandwidth per port on a
router? Or any other ideas that someone might have. She is downloading 15
to 20 songs at the same time and uploading pics.. This is killing my
network.

Any help or ideas would be appreciated,

Bill

bill,

I do not believe your router/gateway has bandwidth throttling options per
port/source-address or any of that kind of QoS capability.
You switch is probably to old as well, I am not familiar with Kingston, but
I would imagine it has limited or no management capability.

Other than "education" of the teenager in question, you are probably out of
options.

rgds,
_Edwin.

I agree with Edwin.

These cheap "nat devices" are not going to have that level of complexity.
Traffic Shaping device tend to be $$$$$$.

When you need the bandwidth, walk over to her,...make her stop.
Later when you are done, you can go back to her and tell her to "have at
it".

It is no different than sharing the bathroom. No one has tried to get a
computer device to control that as far as I know.
