Hi, I have a desktop PC (Window 98) with a microsoft wireless PCI adapter
(MN-730) using miscrosoft network broadband utility. It wirelessly connects
to internet through my router and works fine. However, eveytime I start my
computer, it always connects to the internet. Since I don't like to keep it
conected to internet, I want to be able to diconnect it to internet when I
need to. How can I disconnect it ? I can't find a button saying
"disconnect". Unlike this desktop, my laptop (window XP) is much better,
which has "connect" /"disconnect" button in the network utility software.
Could someone please tell me how to control my desktop connection to the
internet?
Thanks.

Do you use a software firewall to monitor outgoing communication? I use
ZoneAlarm and it has a button for "Stop all Internet activity."

Go to Start | Run | Winipcfg and select the wireless network adapter
from the menu. Release the IP address when you don't want to be
connected to the Internet. Renew the IP address when you do.

That's what I'd do.
