Constantly losing Internet Connection

I access the internet from various places viz School,
home, office using LAN. I have FE574B-3Com 10/100 LAN
PCCard-Fast Ethernet on a Window 98SE OS. The problem is
that I lose internet connection every 1 or 2 hours. The
peculiar thing about it is that I can continue to use AOL
instant messenger, the downloads do not stop and if I ping
the IP, I get a response. However, I 'm unable to surf the
net. Internet explorer (updated to the latest version)
gives me 'The page cannot be displayed' error. Somewtimes
I can see the symptoms approaching by way of half loaded
webpages and after a minute I lose complete surfing
capability.This problem gets solved when I restart the
laptop only to happen again after some hours.
My System is a SONY Viao Laptop model no. PCG-F360 and the
configuration is:
WIndows 98SE.
128MB RAM
Pentium II MMX 400MHz.
Any Solutions??

Check for parasites on your system - AdAware (http://www.lavasoftusa.com) or
Spybot (http://security.kolla.de) should do the trick.
