Last week I asked about wireless access points to enable me to connect
to a 2wire 1100 modem/router. I corrected that problem by exchanging
it for a 2wire 1000sw unit....but now,

I experience routine loss of connection to the router even from a
distance of 3-4 ft on my laptop. You can almost set your watch by the
frequency and duration of the disconnects.

Of 4 networked machines, only one is wireless, a Dell 1100 laptop with
Dell Truemoble 1300 WLAN PC card.

I just ordered a 2wire WLAN PC card hoping it was a compatability
issue.

Any other items I should check just in case this doesn't correct the
problem?

On the properties pages for your wireless connection there should be an
"Authentication" tab. Make sure that there is NO check in Enable IEEE 802.1x
authentication.
