First question I ask when colleagues or students pose me
this dilema is; Do you have Kazaa installed??
Kazaa and many other free sharing applications as well as
many popular media players such as Winamp come loaded with
spy ware. The spy ware installed can and does constantly
communicate with the home server whether you are running
the application it came with or not.

A simple (free) utility that I constantly run on all
systems within my administrative role is Adaware. It will
scan for and remove all spyware from your system.
You can find it here http://www.lavasoftusa.com

Try this before you do anything more drastic to your
system.

Thank you for the reply. I will do what you have
suggested. I also loaded some firewall software and have
found a ton of viruses on the system. Its my son's
computer and he had no anti-virus software.

Thanks for you help.
