2 DELL 2400 desktops w wmp54 wireless adapters 1 DELL laptop dell mini
pci adapter4150. HP 2510 MFC (wireless) Linksys WRT54G, MTU is set to
1392 at the direction of the Linksys folks. wireless router Broadxent
DSL modem AOL 9.0 (sad I know not my choice) Previously the laptop was
hardwired and worked great. After changing to wireless the connection
gets dropped every 20-30 mins I can reconnect quickly. AOL error is as
follows:
Attempt 1) {broadband(Cable/DSL/ISP)} Your connection to the AOL
service was Interupted (24-01-08-041)
Attempt 2) {broadband(Cable/DSL/ISP)} server unreachable or
unavailable (24-01-08-033)
Linksys and AOL have not been able to resolve my issue.
The wireless Signal strenghth is great. the only thing that is
different is the router has been hooked up into a differnt room with a
longer phone cable. The PC's are within 10 ft. The MFC and Laptop @ 76
ft.
Anyone with any ideas??? All would be appreciate.
Thanks for your time in advance.
Miss Rosie

Just an idea. Seeing how you moved things around are you using DSL filters
on all your phones, faxes etc.

You didn't say what OS you are using but my guess is Win XP. The
problem may be in that the windows zero configuration program defaults
to check for new or better wireless networks periodically. This can be
turned off and may solve your problem.

Thank-You!
All seems well. The suggestion to turn of WZC seems to resolve the issue.

Usually when they send out a dsl modem it comes with a phone cord that they
tell you to use, it may have better shielding then the normal line. You
could be picking up noise on the longer phone cable. DOes the phone cable
cross any power wires in the attic or anything. If possible put back on a
different phone line and check it out
