Connection Set Up

Short story:

A Windows 2003 Server (Standard) SP1 machine is temporarily connected to my
home two-machine LAN Network. (Key to longer story: I am babysitting it for
a while)

While I can use both IE, OE & Firefox on the Server to connect to the
Internet perfectly fine, I cannot see the two other machines on my network.
Nor the other way around. All PCs have the same workgroup name. The server
also has a folder set to be shared with the proper permissions.

I am not too savvy on what needs to be done on a Server PC for networks but
I can act on simple advice. BTW, an Acronis image of the system drive was
made the moment the Server got here, so I need not worry too much about
screwing any settings beyond repair! I need the machines to see each other
in order to transfer some files between them.

Regards and thanks in anticipation.

-----------

To add to the original post:

The Server machine's normal work role is configured as a File Server. The
permissions settings on the Security Tab of the shared folder properties
show that Everyone has "all" abilities.

The short answer is; turn off the firewalls.

Thanks for the tip! I selected File & Printer Sharing in the Firewall
(Exceptions tab) settings for the LAN Connection on the Server and things
are working fine now! Both my Win XP Pro machines can now see and connect to
the Server and it's shared folder.

Regards and thanks again.
