Hello,
I started out with this question posted in the windows firewall area but now
I'm not sure if the issue is at the server or the workstation end. I have a
windows XP pro SP2 -plus all patches installed. I have allowed the standard
exceptions for file and print sharing enabled. It blocks connectivity -
when trying to connect to the workstation it says something like network
connections not allowed. If I disable the windows firewall it works fine.
I reset the windows firewall to defaults and it still does not allow network
connections to my system.
I saw an article about replacing the mups.sys file so I did but that hasn't
helped either.
I have completely reset the firewall on my workstation and reregistered the
dlls. I ran the security scan on my workstation - no issues.
I did check it out and while about 8 servers can get to that XP box by going
\\192.168.20.58\c$ 2 boxes can't. They are all running Windows 2003 SP1.
They are all on the same subnet. I can't figure out what the difference is
between the boxes that can attach and those that can't.
I have about 300 PCs of which 6 are having this issue. Most servers can
attach to the hidden or public shares on the PCs but some can't.
