What can I do if I connect to a neighbors WLAN? I do not want that
obviously? She has no security set according to Linksys utility?
Thanks

Hi

Why I see Wireless connections that are not mine in my Wireless Network
display?

http://www.ezlan.net/faq.html#signal

Move to channel 11 and configure your Wireless to connect only to your
Source.

Windows Zero Configuration (SP1) -
http://www.microsoft.com/technet/com...uy/cg1102.mspx

Windows Zero Configuration (SP2) -
http://www.microsoft.com/technet/com...uy/cg0804.mspx

Leave a polite note in your neighbors' mail box informing them about their
Wireless vulnerability.

Make sure that your system is secured.

Wireless Security - http://www.ezlan.net/Wireless_Security.html

Jack (MVP-Networking).

Jack,
Thanks for the response. I have done all of this. If I disable security, no
problems. I am using WPA PSK with AES. The router (WRT54GS has newest
firmware) also has options for all WPA&WPA2. Laptop card (wpc54gs) has wep,
wpa &wpa with radius and wpa w/server. Both are on 11. This is so
frustrating. It works, then it doesn't work? It was suggested once I try
WZC? Any thoughts, anybody? WiFialliance site says this about the WPC54GS
card:
802.11b 802.11g

Security

WPAT - Personal WPAT - Enterprise WPA2T - Personal WPA2T - Enterprise

EAP Type(s) EAP-TLS

Yet, I do not see options for any WPA2? I have the latest drivers 3.6xx Very
contradictory styuff going on here.
Thanks
FRank L

Hi
WPA PSK with AES is basically WPA2,

I kind of thought so, but, this thing has really got me rattled. It's
certainly in the security, but I cannot find it.
Pretty much sucks.
Thanks for your help, it's appreciated

Oh, wanted to ask, is the odyssey crap necessary? Their is NO uninstall,
just unchecking the box. I tried both ways of course. Is it tied to the card
utility? seems like it.

If you ever find yourself connected to someone elses wireless network,
refresh the "available wireless networks" screen and double click on the one
that you are connected this will change the status from automatic to manual
(message will inform you). That way the only way you would be able to
connect to that network [again] is if you changed the status back to
automatic.
