RCA DCM235 to Comcast
Netgear RT314

P4 3.0c
Intel 875P with builtin Ethernet
XP Home

Same network as previous Win 98 machine, now when I start the XP
computer I have to attempt to access 4 or 5 websites, then all of a
sudden the connection "activates" and they all load up. It does not
seem to be a time delay, but a certain number of requests. The laptop
on the same network never has this problem. I suspect the computer. I
have not tried connecting directly through the cable modem since I am
paranoid after reading too many posts! Is this a problem anyone else
has had?

In Internet Explorer, there is an option to 'Automatically Detect Settings'
under Tools->Internet Options->Connections->Lan Settings. Try turrning this
off (clear the check box).

Thanks for the resposne. It was already unchecked. And I also tried it
without the router - no help. Strangely, the laptop seems to work fine
so it must be the computer itself. What about XP is so crazy?
