What is the connection logic for IE6?

I have two internet connectionss, one is a BT line via ADSL and one is via
modem on the same PC.

With only ADSL active, IE uses that. The speed gives it away.

When I start up the modem connection, it seems to take priority.

I have two accounts in OEx6, one specifying the analog modem. When the modem
is connected, OEx sends mail quite happily via both connections. The
destination email address seems to dictate which connection is used.

However, IE6 seems to start using the modem connection as well. What is
supposed to happen?

The default route (used by everything to access the Internet unless
you specify otherwise) is set to your adsl connection. When you dial
up with the modem the default route is changed to the dialup and
everything will then use that (by default) until you hang up at which
time the default gateway reverts back to the adsl.

If you want to everything to carry on using the adsl as the default
gateway all the time, then go into the dialup connection advanced
properties and uncheck the box which says "use default gateway on
remote network" (or words to that effect).
