I have an additional idea to add to my previous answer (two posts bellow).
If you have a regular wire NIC in your computer, it might be that it shows
in the tray, but it does not indicate any thing since it is not the Wireless
Icon.
If this is the case, disable the Wire NIC, and enable the Icon in the
Wireless Network properties.
Look at the two last lines in this pic,
