OK, this use to work until about a month or so ago. The router I have got
is an RP114, on the XBOX.com site, there is a work around for this model. I
have followed these instructions to the letter and yet it still will not
connect!
I have my the following settings:
- My PC is also connected to the router and can browse the internet without
any problems
- I have set the router to spoof the MAC address of my PC so that all comms
appear to the cable modem as if from one MAC address. I read an article
saying that some cable modems get confused if you use two different MAC
addresses. The results are the same if I do not spoof, but obviously I had
to register the MAC address of the XBOX.
- I have 'hard coded' the DNS servers into the router. This appears to be
quicker and has never caused any faults to the PC.
- I have set teh DMZ server to point to the XBOX IP address.
When attempting to connect to XBOX live, the troubleshooter finds the cable,
IP address and DNS but says it cannot connect to XBOX live. The message
says to make sure the MTU for the router is greater than 1365 (approx). I
have checked this by using "ping -f -l 1472 www.google.com" and it does not
fragment the packets. So I assume that the MTU is sufficient.
If connect the XBOX directly to the cable modem, it is perfect!! As I said,
this use to work!
Has anyone got any suggestions as to what I can try next.
