Connecting WPN824 wireless router to a Zyxel P-600 series modem

Hi there

I am despeartely trying to connect my wireless router to an adsl modem
which is
connected to the phone line . I have an ADSL service.
My connection is trying to look like this phoneline -> modem
->(ethernet) router->(wirless) To computers. My IP is dynamic (from
ISP).

When I use the modem as a server connected to a single computer I have
internet access , so I know the modem and internet access are
working.However when I connect the router to the modem suddenly I cannot
access the internet although the router can pick up a dynamic IP in the
setup.

It seesm as if the router and modem are not alking to each other . How
should I set this up so it works .
