Sure, you can link your computers.
First, connect them physically using wired or wireless networking. If
you use wired networking, you can connect them directly to each other
using a crossover Ethernet cable, or you can connect them indirectly
to each other using two regular Ethernet cables and a hub, switch, or
broadband router.
Then, run the Windows XP Network Setup Wizard on both computers. It
will make all of the necessary settings to get them talking to each
other:
