i have a win 98 se desktop. i have cox high speed internet. for the past 6
months i have been directly plugged into the motorolla modem provided by cox
via ethernet, and my internet was fantastic. last nite i hooked up our router
so i my laptop can get wifi. however, now when i plug in my old desktop to
the router via ethernet, it doesnt get internet. also, when i unplug the
router and just have my old win 98 desktop plugged direclty into the modem,
like before, it wont work. my laptop gets internt fine whatever way i do it,
via ethernet wiht modem, ethernet with router, or wireless. how can i get my
old desktop to get internet again?

Some cable modems have to be reset when you move them from one device
(computer or router) to another. Unplug the power from your cable
modem, wait a few seconds, plug it back in, and see if that makes
everything work.
