Connecting to unwanted network

A colleague has a Belkin wireless modem/router with 64 bit wep key in the
same room as his HP wireless enabled laptop. He can connect to the Belkin
no problem for a short period but then the laptop "drops" this connection
and tries to connect to a much poorer unsecured wireless network in a
neighbour's house.
Is this a problem with the Belkin, the laptop or what? Is it possible for
him to get his PC to ignore the other network?

TIA
Mike H

Hi

Old WEP hardware can be unstable. If the hardware is WPA capable, it is
better to use WPA.

In order to avoid casual attempts to connect to the other Networks they
should be removed from the WZC Wireless Networks leaving your Wireless only,

This might provide additional help as well, http://www.ezlan.net/faq#sudden
