Hi,
I need to make connections between a test domain and production domain.
Test domain is in the same physical location as the production domain is.
Users need to gain access via remote desktop and need to share files with the
test domain.
Test domain machines are connected to a switch....The question I have is how
to connect the test domain to the production domain??? I searched Google and
did not get anywhere, called Linksys and they were reading a script for
me.....

Hello,

you need to make an Active Directory trust between domain. You first need to
get DNS resolution from each domain to the other

I have created two way transitive trust between two forests and DNS and all
that....my question is how to physically connect the two network switches in
order to communicate with each other….

Is the two network routed? can they reach each other, otherwise you need to
configure the routing so that you have a valid communication between the two
diffrent networks.

Like Henrik I am a bit confused about your physical setup. How did you
set up domain trusts if the two switches are not linked?

After initial set up of the test server as a new forest I connected the box
to the production domain’s switch and created the trusts. But now I want to
separate them. I think I may need to get a VLAN switch but I am not sure of
it.

Hello,

sorry for the lag, i was on holidays

So you still want to reach each other, but not directly, let's say to filter
communications ?

Vlan makes logical lan, as if it was two disconnected switch. So you need
something to route between both vlan, like a router. It can be a "real"
router, or the switch may have Layer 3 intelligence to make the routing
between both vlan.
