Connecting a small wireless LAN to a wired LAN

I have a wired ethernet LAN that connects two other desktop computers to a
host desktop. I want to add a small wireless network to this configuration
by integrating a wireless router. Is that possible? I am using a SMC7004 DSL
router for the wired portion. I purchased a SpeedStream wireless router.
What do I need to bridge or interconnect the two?

I know I can alternately use the wireless router on the primary host
computer and use cable from there to the two other desktops. However, I did
not want to lose the stability of the wired LAN by switching to that
configuration. Help? Oh! Already have wireless PC card adapter for
notebook and wireless card adapter for one other desktop located on third
floor.

Just finished what you're suggesting. Bought a DLink 900AP+ and plugged it
into a Linksys wired network switch, which is also connected to a wired
Linksys router, with a Speedstream DSL modem in front. The three wireless
devices, one desktop and two laptops, joined the network and internet access
just fine. Don't see the need for your wireless router, since you have a
router already. Just buy an access point and plug into your switch/router,
and you're good to go.

Don't forget the word "reconditioned" in your Google search.
I just got a great deal on a d-link 614+ from eCost.com, $30 after rebate.
It isn't what you are looking for since it is "b" not "g" but thought I'd
mention it.

The hardware's not expensive. Bought my AP from Newegg and a PCMCIA card
from AMAstore. Check Pricewatch or whatever for the best prices.

I have done this with my Linksys WRT54G router - works great DHCP is given
out by the main router box and Linksys acts as a access point with 3 wired
ports out of it - thanks for the idea
