Hello All,

Have a successful Home Network set up via a hub. one of the things I would
really like to do is use a USB webcamera I have on my office PC upstairs as
a kind of security camera - I can twist it round so it looks over the drive
and car. There are a number of kids that are always messing around in the
street and this would save me constantly going upstairs to look out.

Is there a path or something I can do to connect to the USB camera upstairs
so that the piucture is displayed downstairs? All PC's running XP pro by
the way

Thanks

Rich

You can setup a web(cam)server on the upstairs PC which takes a picture
every x seconds and saves it as a webpage. You can view this picture over
the LAN from your other machine, could set the page to refresh every x
seconds also.

This is just a possibility. I know there is also some software that does
this automatically, post back if you need more info. Google around, also.

You need to run a streaming video server on the machine with the webcam,
which you can then connect to from anywhere on your network. You might
want to take a look at TrueTech WebCam Personal Edition, which is
freeware.
