Hi,

I'm sure this must be easy, but not for a novice. I've connected to NTL
throught their cable modem via the Ethernet port. I now need to add a four
port router to put a laptop on as well. What things do I need to configure
to get it to work.

Thanks.

It can be as easy as turning of the cable modem, connecting up the
router, turning the router on & then turning on the CM when the router
has fully booted (I'm sure it was that easy when I was using NTL & a
Netgear router)

Sounds about right (and there are good reasons for the 'turning off
the stuff' Steve).

Cept, I would turn the CM back on first (wait for sync etc) *then*
turning the router on <shrug>?

The router should get all the i/p settings it should need from NTL and
the PC(s) should get their i/p settings from the router (DHCP).

All the best ..

Make sure you get a router that's described as cable/DSL (in other words not
one with an ADSL modem built in). I use a Belkin router, which came with
excellent step by step instructions.
