Must be a book on this, but I don't know why one can go into
Starbucks and connect. I wached our guru mess with int adddress and
MAC and encryption and WAP and all that stuff. Has this something to
do with signing in as Guest or Anonymus?

We want to put a router in summer cottage so guests/renters can
connect.(i know a wire works -we want wireless) What must we

-do in setting up router

--say about what visitors
-must have for hardware - wireless card type, etc.
-must do to their connection software

-anything else.

I guess you get what we want to set up. And how little I know about
it

Open access point. Control is by a gateway webpage.

An open unsecured access point would do it, but then you might well have
neighbors and transients leeching your service.

Best option is a >> wireless hotspot router << with gateway webpage, and
access key to give renters that you can easily change. See wikis below.
