Hello,
I am new to the server family etc...
I have just installed Windows Server 2003 on my network. I want it to be a
simple file/printing sharing server.
It will not connect to the network at all. Other PC's can see the server
and the server can see the network but not any pc's on the network. I have
been fiddling with this for a long time now. Can anyone please help!

Thnx in advance for you help on this!!

Hi,

Can you ping the PCs by IP address? How about by name? Can you do e.g.

\\client\c$

from the server (on the server click on Start -> Run and enter \\client\c$
and press enter)

replace "client" with name of one of your PCs that is currently up and
running.

Hi Mike,
I can ping other client pc's with ip address no problem. I have internet
access thru the broadband router. It just will not see other pc's on the
network. There is no domain, just a workgroup.

When I run the \\client\c$ and press enter command it comes up" No network
provider accepted the given network path."

I have never run accross this type of issue before. Your help would be
GREATLY appreciated!

Thnx!

Oh yes, I almost forgot. I tried to ping the server and it will not respond.
the request times out. It's funny as I am currently downloading SP1 for the
server using the server so I know it is working.
Thnx!

Hi Todd,
Sorry for the late reply. I have rebooted the server and it seems to work
flawlessly now. I don't know what happened but it now sees the network and
have full connectivity to the clients and the clients to the server.

Thanks for your help guys!!
John
